During so many different seasons of life, these books have either encouraged, challenged, or comforted us. While we don’t agree with every author on every point, these are simply some resources we’ve found valuable in our own healing journey.
As helpful as books and other voices can be, they will always fall short of God’s Word. We are often quick to turn to other people, podcasts, or books for answers, yet Scripture remains wholly unmatched. Time and again, God’s Word has been our greatest source of comfort, wisdom, conviction, and hope.
If you are walking through a difficult season, our highest recommendation is not a book on this page, but the Bible itself. It has never failed us, and within its pages we have found treasures far greater than anything this world can offer.
We pray these resources are helpful, but more than anything, we pray they point you back to the One whose words never fail.
Faith and Suffering
Dark Clouds Deep Mercy
The most instrumental resource in my healing journey! This book taught me there is a bridge from grief to healing and that bridge is called lamenting.
The Silent Shades of Sorrow
Another great resource! Spurgeon’s heart in dealing with suffering really shines through in this book.
Suffering
Another Christ – centered reminder that suffering is not the end of the story.
Healing and Growth
Enough
This book was instrumental in my own growth journey. From identifying the lies I’d told myself for so long to being rid of them… it was invaluable.
Feeling Good
This one was a new one for me and I’m not gonna lie, I did not get through all of it (have you seen the size of this thing?!). However, I was able to glean very useful and practical ways of dealing with my emotional thought patterns.
Hardship and Resilience
The Happiest Man on Earth
Some books stick with you forever and this is one of those. His attitude throughout the entire span of his persecution and suffering was just incredible. A huge lesson in how attitude is everything.
Resolute
This one…this was so so good for me. His healing journey mirrored so much of mine and was so incredibly helpful. His experience was shattering and physical but also mental. His descriptions and struggles were so important to me because they gave my own emotional battles voice to something I could not always describe.
Devotionals
The Daily Grace Co.
I have used quite a few of these studies and have loved every single one of them! This one especially is my favorite though.
New Morning Mercies
I’m thankful for these daily devotionals. They were such a help.
Morning and Evening
I have this in both paperback form and on my phone. I love them both and they are so good!
